Located close to the house is a picturesque Pitch n’Putt course, which runs along the banks of the River Shannon. Birr Golf Club is also located just 6 miles from Banagher. There is a rich heritage within easy access of Banagher including Birr Castle, gardens and observatory, Clonmacnoise and Clonfert. 

There is a virtual multitude of things to see and do in the area, whether your preference is towards the more energetic pursuits of the equine world, or the calm peaceful retreat of the nearby Slieve Bloom mountains.

There is a great selection of public houses and restaurants in Banagher, where you can sample some of the best of Irish traditional music, song and dance.

The Beara-Breifne and Hymany Ways

Dun Cromain Bed & Breakfast, Banagher is ideally located for walking enthusiasts who are interested in taking in part of the Beara-Breifne & Hymany Way walks. The Beara-Breifne Way interlinks a series of local ways.

The local way in East Galway is called The Hymany Way. It traverses the plains of this area along its watercourses, including the banks of the river Shannon, through farmland and alongside the bogs for which the Irish midlands are famous.

Prayer & Reflection at Emmanuel House, Clonfert

Dun Cromain B&B is located less than 10 minutes away from Emmanuel House in Clonfert providing the perfect base for visitors to the well known centre for prayer.

Emmanuel House of Providence is a Catholic centre for prayer and evangelisation. It is a new community of Christ's faithful in formation, located in the very heart of Ireland.

It was founded by Michael and Annette Cullen who had given their lives to imparting the faith to young people in the United States and in Ireland. In 1985 they were led in faith to Clonfert with the desire to found there a Catholic spirit filled centre.
